I go on

I go on as long
as you lead me
I go on as long
as you say you need me
I go on along
as I trust you
to know yourself
better than I do
I go on as long
as I hope
I am wrong
to doubt you
I go on as long
as you let me,
continue to
hold my hand, and say
“I love you”

You walk me through a field of broken hearts,
stepping purposefully careless on each one.
You are a shattered mirror fragmenting me into a million parts
as I await the night of your endlessly setting sun.

I howl madness as you rise over the lake,
your red blood moon changes me to something I wish not to be.
I search my sanity for a silver bullet, a wooden stake.
With which to pierce my heart, end my misery, cease me.

But hope looms violently upon the horizon o’er which you rise.
Above burns my love
Aurora Borealis lights the skies.

I go on as long
as I can believe
in you and us and me
simultaneously

For as much as you lose myself
in your field of lies and dreams
I am faithfully yours
until I’m sure
what you feel
is exactly
how it seems.
